I'm oddly on the other end of this. I was one of those children with an alcoholic mother who wouldn't stop with that alone. It's broke my ability to trust, even though I push through it. She's clean now and has been for five years. It's easy to say the damage is done with cPTSD. But we rebuild, we heal. She's still got my father, she's got her kids even if we're in our fourties now. Losing your kids and partner may be a pain that's hard to overlook, but know it affects them long term. Carly Pearl, other than having an amazing voice (as was everyones in this video) gave the perspective from the outside looking in. I think that was a great part of the song.
